Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $380 Million

The whole point of the American Mega Millions Lottery was to create bigger payouts than the ordinary state lotteries could offer. Last week there were gamblers across American hoping that they were holding the ticket which contained all the matching numbers, should they have had the winning ticket then they could win almost $380 million.
On occasion state lotteries do get close to $100 million, but as many of them are only drawn once a week it can take a number of months for the jackpots to grow that high. With lotteries such as Mega Millions and Powerball the jackpots grow much quicker as there are gamblers contributing to the prize from many states.

Over the holiday season the Mega Millions jackpot rapidly grew and when nobody won on Christmas Eve the jackpot grew to $196 million it then grew to $380 million for the drawing on January 4th. In the end the jackpot was won by two tickets, one in Washington the other in Idaho.

Over the past few years many state lotteries have had the added responsibility of casino gambling. The Kansas Lottery owns four casinos that were approved many years ago and the Lottery Commission has been in charge of choosing which developers operate the casinos.
Since the economic recession lottery sales have been down across the US. However, the lottery has seen expansion with most lotteries having drawings more than once a week. Most states also offer a variety of different games for gamblers to enjoy. In Florida there has even been the introduction of a lottery scratch card vending machine across popular supermarkets.
