Round up of all the latest gambling news

The world’s largest lottery operator, Lottomatica Group, has announced an 11% increase in revenue according to recently released figures. The Rome based company saw its revenue for the second quarter of 2010 increase to €574m compared to the same period last year. This is due to the continued growth of the company’s subsidiary GTECH, the lottery business it acquired in 2006 as well as its interactive subsidiary GTECH G2.

Things are not looking quite so good for Leisure & Gaming plc, with the company announcing to the junior AIM market in London this morning that it intends to sell its main subsidiary, Betshop Group. This comes after cashflow difficulties resulted in a suspension of trading back in May. The company has since secured a loan facility of up to €300,000 over the next two months to allow it to complete the sale, which is still subject to shareholder approval.

There’s news on the mobile gaming front as well, with the announcement by Paddy Power that it has launched 10 new mobile casino games. Following the success of its recent iPhone App, the company plans to combine this with its new mobile sports products.

888sport.com has included an optimised mobile version of its sportsbook for the Apple iPhone and iPod. Developed in partnership with mobile specialist mkodo, its new sportsbook can also be used on any mobile phone device.

Finally, Tatts Group, Tabcorp and Ladbrokes have been confirmed as the three candidates for the Australian state of Victoria's wagering and sports betting licence. The state government will award the licence later this year.
