Paddy Power posts odds on Irish Eurovision chances

Ireland is well known for its musical prowess and its track record in the popular Eurovision Song Contest has proven no exception. Now Paddy power, one of the most important names in the Irish gaming industry, is cashing in on the action after publishing odds on Ireland qualifying for the 2010 competition. The site is currently posting offs of 1/3 that the country will reach the finals which are scheduled to be held o May 27th.

This week saw Ireland select its candidate in what proved to be a tough contest. Niamh Kavanaugh was chosen to represent the country with the son “It’s for You”. Written by four different songwriter including Marten Eriksson, Jonas Gladnikoff, Lina Eriksson and Niall Mooney, it is hoped that Ireland will improve on last year’s efforts which failed to see the country appear in the final competition showdown. The Many are now pinning their hopes on Niamh Kavanaugh, who took the trophy back in 1993 with the Jimmy Walsh's song, "In Your Eyes". The single became an instant hit in Ireland and reached an impressive number 24 in the UK Singles Chart.

Many are now visiting the Paddy Power site as they hope to enjoy a slice of Eurovision action. As it stands, Paddy Power is showing offs of 1/3 that Ireland will qualify for the final. Odds of 2/1 say that Ireland will fail to qualify. Finally, odds of 14/1 are posted for Ireland to win the final and take the much coveted champion title. Many will be anxious to see how events unfold as the countdown to the contest begins.
