Betfair Casino created some chaos with their advertisement of a Happy Hour at their online casino, which was written about last month in an article in Casino Scam Report. This event allowed customers to deposit money and take part in various games with large prizes. Unfortunately Betfair Casino was forced to cancel these prizes because it added up to more than they had calculated for.
Apparently Betfair even threatened those players who had already received their bonuses, demanding that they return the money or else they would have their accounts locked and continued action would be taken to retrieve the bonus money. An investigation into Happy Hour has been announced just today by the Advertising Standards Association. A spokesperson from the ASA, Matt Wilson, has stated that, “the ASA has launched a formal investigation into the Betfair Casino Happy Hour Promotion and will shortly publish our findings”.
Multitudes of players complained to Britain's advertising regulator about the whole debacle, stating that it was Betfair's fault and not any of their own. Management however, decided on several controversial choices in regards to players and their account balances.
As a result of this, players began to complain at online gambling forums as well as message boards, nonetheless Betfair did not respond. They chose not to apologize or comment at all for the mess they created, leading to more intense customer anger and dissatisfaction. At this point, the players are hoping for a reaction of some form from the ASA investigation, which could lead to compensation for players who were not responsible in any way for the affair.
